Free Thayer's Birding Software for Young Birders

Any young birders or students interested in birds and nature who are enrolled in pre-K, grade school, middle school or high school can download the new version 7.7 of Thayer's Birds of North America for Free.
Thayer's Birding Software features the 1,007 birds that have been seen in the continental United States and Canada. The software includes 6,856 color photos, 1,506 songs and calls, 552 video clips of birds in action, 700 quizzes and much more.

When Pre-K through high school students download the software, they should enter the promotion code, ToddBirdClubYoungBirder to get the software for free. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy this presentation of the colorful, crazy birds of South Africa. Bird calls will accompany the photo and video presentation by MarLA Sink Druzgal. See and hear the bird with “The Call of Africa”, and listen to folklore and behavioral accounts of the vibrant, flying wildlife of the country. The presentation will include an exhibit of crafts and other items related to South African birds, along with a Q&A following the talk. This program is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
2016 Indiana County Christmas Bird Count Results

The Todd Bird Club held its 34th Indiana Christmas Bird Count on December 26, 2016. Participats tallied 7655 individuals of 70 species, plus 5 additional species during count week. The Jim Dearing award for best bird was given to Daniel Winstead for spotting a Turkey Vulture. This is only the second time that this species has been seen on the Indiana County Christmas Bird Count. View the detailed count results.

The Wings and Wildlife Art Show, featuring 46 artists, will be at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh on November 7 and 8, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The artists include two Todd Bird Club members, Nancy Smeltzer and Sue Donley. Visit the art show to support the Aviary and our artists.
