Widespread Bird Mortality Event

Thursday, July 8, 2021

A large number of songbirds are dying from an unknown ailment in 10 states, including 60 out of 67 counties in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Game Commission recommends that we all bring in our bird feeders and wash them with a 10% bleach solution until the mortality event subsides. Birds gather in close proximity at feeders, so diseases can be easily transmitted there. Now birds have to practice social distancing, too?! You can read more about this in the game commission's news article from July 1 and in their updated alert on July 6.
