Checking Purple Martin Nest Boxes

Luke Stauffer, who owns a mini-barn business and lives at 1082 Myers Road, Indiana, PA 15701 near Yellow Creek, has invited Todd Bird Club members to attend his Purple Martin nest box check that he has planned for Wednesday, June 25, at 2:00 p.m. He has several nesting pairs of martins this year and is excited to share his birds with us.

Corrections to April 26 and May 3 Outings

The driving directions to Greg Tomb's State Game Lands 79 outing on April 26 were incorrect on the web site and in the email reminder that went out on the night of April 24. Turn right onto Rt 271, not Rt 217, and drive 1.6 miles on Plank Road, not about 3 miles.

The starting point for John Taylor's Yellow Creek outing was incorrect in the newsletter. The outing starts at the North Shore Gazebo, not at the South Shore park office.

Tuesday Yellow Creek Outings on Hiatus

The Higbees will not be leading Yellow Creek outings on Tuesdays until they complete their Winter Raptor Surveys. If anyone else would like to lead these outings, please speak up. Otherwise, the Tuesday outing will be on hiatus until after the Winter Raptor Surveys are complete.

Life List Fundraiser

Todd Bird Club is in need of a fund-raiser to cover costs associated with our meetings. Members designed a two-part booklet entitled "My Life List" and "Year�s List Data." Both parts have lists of North American species and accidentals. Part one has columns for a check mark if you have seen the bird, a second column for the date first seen, and the third for the location where your life bird was spotted. Part 2 has ten columns, one for each year beginning in 2025 through 2034. The entire booklet contains 60 pages plus a cover depicting bird photos taken by members. The booklet is encased in a blue SlideLock cover.

The sample booklet was passed around at our November meeting. We are asking for a donation of $10 for this booklet. Please contact our president Sue Dickson jscm130@yahoo.com if you would like to order one. Thanks so very much.
